Virginia R. Yockey

Virginia R. "Ginger" Yockey, 77, of Sioux City was reunited with many loved ones in Heaven on Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013, at Brentwood Good Samaritan Village in Le Mars, Iowa. Services will be 10 a.m. Saturday at Wesley United Methodist Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Nea Huggins officiating. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with family present will be 6 to 8 p.m. today, with a prayer service at 7 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Condolences may be left at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Ginger was born Nov. 7, 1935, in Sioux City, the daughter of Rex and Helen (Reynen) Yockey. She was a wonderful lady who had a great sense of humor. She truly enjoyed the simple things in life: tea, Little Debbie Cakes (always needed two), babies, all animals and reading magazines on the porch. Survivors include her brothers, Bruce (Carolyn) Yockey of Sioux City, and Terry (Joan) Yockey of Salt Lake City, Utah; sister-in-law, Verlie Yockey of Sioux City; many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephew, great-great-nieces and great-great-nephews. She will be missed by her many friends at Hope Haven in Orange City, Iowa, and Good Samaritan in Le Mars. She was preceded in death by her parents; brothers, Rene and Dr. William Yockey; and a sister, Sarah (Denver) Birkhofer. Pallbearers will be her nephews, Randy Yockey, Rick Birkhofer, John Fleckenstein and Mike Cook. Memorials may be directed to the Wesley United Methodist Church Sunday School Fund.
