Deloris D. Reed, 90 of Sioux City passed away peacefully on Sept. 1, 2013 at Sunrise Retirement Community Bernstein Unit. Funeral services will be 10:30 A.M. Friday, September 6, 2013 at Calvary Lutheran Church with Reverend James Travis officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, September 5, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M. and a prayer service at 7 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Deloris was born on July 6, 1923, in Sioux City, the daughter of William and Anna (Dahlman) Hardersen. She grew up on the family farm north and east of Sioux City. She married Raymond Reed on July 18, 1945 in Hinton, Iowa. They farmed and ranched in the Sioux City and Le Mars, Iowa and western Nebraska areas. She worked for many years at St. Joseph Hospital/Marian Health Center. She was a member of Calvary Lutheran Church and active in CLWL and Martha Circle. Deloris is survived by her husband of 68 years, Ray; six children, Sharilyn Steck of Sioux City, Randy (Sherry) Reed of Pocatello, Idaho, Monty (LuAnn) Reed, Marlon Reed, and Brian Reed, all of Ainsworth, Neb., and Ranae Reed of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Leta Mae Marlowe, Betty Reed, and Jeanette Hardersen; and several nieces and nephews . She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, Orville and Adrian; brothers-in-laws, Kenneth Reed, Gilbert Reed, Farrell Maxwell, and Virgil Malowe; sisters-in-law, Mary Ellen Hardersen, Marie Reed, Margaret Reed, and Ruby Maxwell; son-in-law, Mark Steck; and daughter-in-law, Ruth Reed. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Calvary Lutheran Church or Sunrise Retirement Community.
