DAKOTA DUNES, SD | Darrell D. Will, 70 of Dakota Dunes, SD died Friday, Aug. 30, 2013 at a Sioux City hospital. Darrell had a very strong will to live for his family. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4, 2013 at First United Methodist Church in Sioux City with Rev. Roger Madden officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, with the family present 6-8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Darrell was born Feb. 12, 1943 in Atlantic, Iowa to Gerald P. and A. Lucille (Morgan) Will. He grew up in Atlantic where he graduated from high school. Darrell received his Bachelor of Science degree from Morningside College where he lettered in football all four years. On August 14, 1965 he married Patricia "Patty" Drommer in Sioux City at Mayflower congregational church. Together they raised two children, Grant and Angie. Darrell began his career as a cattle buyer for John Morrell in Sioux City. He then worked in the packing plant industry in Winterset, Ottumwa and Creston, Iowa and also in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. He was the procurement manager and plant manager at Huron Dressed Beef in Huron, South Dakota. Darrell then worked for Tyson Fresh Meats in Marshalltown, Iowa and Dakota Dunes, South Dakota for 22 years. Darrell was an avid golfer and enjoyed playing cards, especially poker, cribbage and gin rummy. He looked forward to going on an annual family vacation to Canada every year since 1972. He was extremely close with his family, including his extended family of brother-in-laws, sister-in-laws, nieces and nephews. It was important to him to watch over and guide his children and grandchildren. He coached little league for his children, co-coached a season for his grandson and even while battling his illnesses, attended a majority of his grandson's games, practices, and concerts. Darrell had a large array of friends from every community he lived in. He loved his work and the people at Tyson Fresh Meats. He worked until his death. While living in Huron, SD he was very involved in the community and participated on many boards, including the Men's Sertoma Club who presented Darrell with a yellow jacket. He was on chamber, church and country club boards in several communities. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Sioux City. Survivors include his wife, Patty; a son, Grant Will of Huron and his fianceé, Kristyn Matson and her children, Peyton and Carson of Ramona, South Dakota; a daughter, Angie Reinhardt of Dakota Dunes, SD; 3 grandchildren, Cole, Alex and Seth Reinhardt; and a brother and his wife, Dwight and Cindy Will of Wiota, Iowa. He was preceded in death by his parents. Memorial may be made in his name to First United Methodist Church or to June E. Nylen Cancer Center.
