Shirley Mae Begnoche, 86, of Sioux City passed away Saturday, Aug. 24, 2013, at a Sioux City hospital. Services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, with the Rev. Craig Collison officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4:30 to 8 p.m. today, with a vigil service at 7 p.m., at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Shirley Mae Begnoche was born April 4, 1927, in Sioux City, the daughter of Clement E. and Ruth L. (Smith) Donovan. Shirley graduated from Sioux City Central High School. She married Cleo C. Begnoche on Oct. 30, 1948 in Sioux City. She was a lifetime resident of Sioux City. She was employed at various retail stores in Sioux City, including Williges, Rehan's and Younkers. Shirley and Cleo enjoyed spending time with the McCook Lake Whirlers and was a member of the I KETTS Brown's Lake, Craft Club, Red Hat Society, golf club at Sun Valley Golf Course, Eagles Auxiliary, Lady Lasslets and in her free time, loved to bake cakes and make mints. Shirley is survived by her husband, Cleo, of Sioux City; four children, Marlene and Delford Strandburg, Larry and Georgi Begnoche, Ronald and Mary Begnoche and Kevin and Robin Begnoche, all of Sioux City; a sister, Jo-Ann Morrow of Mesa, Ariz.; nine grandchildren, Sarah, Jennifer, Amie, Ryan, Melanie, Gerry, Anthony, April and Cody; 13 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her parents and an uncle, Donald Smith.
