SIOUX CITY,IOWA | Charles W. "Rob" Robinson, Jr., 80 of Sioux City, entered into the glory of his eternal life on August 15, 2013, at a local hospital surrounded by his loving family. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Rev. Geames Ivory officiating. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Charles Winfrey Robinson (Rob) was born on October 23, 1932 in Cape Charles, Virginia. He was the youngest of seven siblings born to Charles Sr. and Lena Robinson. At a young age he moved to Philadelphia, PA where he was educated and spent most of his youth before joining the United States Air Force. He was a proud veteran and served in the Air Force from 1952 -1972. His military travels led him to Sioux City where he was stationed in 1965. There he met Margaret Vaughns, married soon after and raised seven children. After serving 20 years in the Air Force, he was hired as Floor Supervisor for the Zenith Corporation of Sioux City for over 10 years. Later Rob became Sioux City's one and only African American car salesman selling Cadillacs, Pontiacs, and Nissan cars. If you needed a car... just call Rob! Many of you may remember Rob as the cashier at Sodrac Park (the dog track). He and Margaret loved going to the race track. He also was a member of the Prince Hall Affiliated Lodge of Free and Accepted Masons (Decatur Lodge #14), where he served and enjoyed the brothers comradery. He had many hobbies: he loved to barbecue, watch sports, entertain his grandkids and he was a very passionate reader. He loved a good book! Rob and Margaret enjoyed traveling too, with many visits to California and Georgia to visit the kids. Rob confessed to Christ as a young man; he fellowshipped at the Mount Zion Baptist Church of Sioux City for many years. Rob loved life and lived it to the fullest. He enjoyed his family and friends dearly. He leaves to mourn his passing: two siblings - brother, George Robinson of Philadelphia, PA - sister, Gladys Robinson of Cape Charles, Virginia, two daughters - Gloria Vaughns and fiancé Stan Gorman of Sioux City, Tena Butler and husband Fred of Savannah, GA, five sons - Johnny Robinson and wife Sue of Sioux City, Tony Robinson and fiancée Jodi Fiscus of Sioux City, Ronnie Robinson and wife Vanessa of Long Beach, CA, Kenny Robinson of Sioux City, and Corey Robinson and wife Cathy of Minneapolis, MN., twenty seven grandchildren , eight great-grandchildren (last count), and a host of relatives and friends. Rob was preceded in death by his wife, Margaret, who was the love of his life for over 40 years. Until we see you again our brother, father, grandfather, uncle and friend... you will be greatly missed... we love you and you will be in our hearts forever... until we meet again.
