Harry H. "Hank" Van Waart, 93, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Funeral services will be 2:00 P.M. Friday, August 2, 2013 at First United Methodist Church with Reverend Roger Madden officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, August 1, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M. and a prayer service at 7 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences can be directed to meyerbroschapels.com. Harry was born the son of Peter and Anna (Leinen) Van Waart on November 27, 1919 in Sioux City. He graduated from East High School. Hank married Bette Buell on March 8, 1946 in Elk Point, South Dakota. He was a lifelong Sioux City resident. Hank worked as a machinist for M&S Company for over 40 years. He enjoyed restoring and selling wrecked cars and tinkering on anything that needed fixing. Hank was a member of First United Methodist Church. He honorably served his country in the United States Army Air Corp. in both Panama and Ecuador. Hank is survived by two daughters, Nancy (Larry) Wiese of Dakota Dunes, South Dakota and Janet (Steve) Kolker of LeMars, Iowa; one brother, Leo Van Waart of Sioux City, Iowa; one sister, Corine "Pat" Dikeman of Sioux City, Iowa; five grandchildren, Sam (Kelly) Wiese, Shari (Tony) Amo, Suzanne (Nick) Hanish, Michael Kolker, and David Kolker; and thirteen great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Bette; three brothers, Joe, Hans, and Pete; and two sisters, Marian and Margaret.
