Ned R. Larson

Ned R. Larson, 82, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, July 28, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be 11:30 A.M. Thursday, August 1, 2013 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be Wednesday, July 31, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences can be directed to meyerbroschapels.com. Ned was born the son of Chris and Irene (Maggers) Larson on January 30, 1931 in Logan, Iowa. He married Gladys Nelson on November 6, 1951 in Jackson, Minnesota. Ned was a foreman at Modern Machine Works for 25 years. He became self-employed as a machinist and welder until his retirement. Ned enjoyed restoring tractors and old cars. He loved his H2 Hummer. Family was the most important part of Ned's life. Ned is survived by two sons, Gary (Jodie) Larson of Sioux City, Iowa and Jim (Kathy) Larson of Shenandoah, Iowa; two daughters, Connie (Don) Eastman of Sioux City, Iowa and Cheryl (Neal) Derochie of Sioux City, Iowa; two brothers, Robert "Corky" (LaVonne) Larson of Eastern Iowa, and Larry Larson of California; one sister, Barb (Dan) Bain of Council Bluffs, Iowa; six grandchildren, Jennifer Neuendorf, Mark Nolen, Ranae Crowley, Tyler Larson, Mitchell Larson, and Anna Atkinson; three great-grandchildren, Makenna, Carter, and Braden Neuendorf; two step-great-grandchildren, Trevor and Brandon Cole; and one step-great-great-grandson, Preston. He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gladys; and four brothers.
