Richard M. Jungers

Rick M. Jungers, 52, of North Sioux City passed away unexpectedly Monday, July 15, 2013. A celebration of life service will be 1 p.m. today at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel on Hamilton Blvd. in Sioux City. Rick was born on June 7, 1961, in Le Mars, Iowa, the son of Edwin and Ethel (Schaffhausen) Jungers. He was the youngest of 14 children. Rick grew up in Hospers, Iowa, and graduated from Floyd Valley High School in Alton, Iowa. He married Mary Lee and fulfilled a dream of having a child, Dominick Edwin Jungers. He and his son shared a love of music, fishing and the outdoors. He was very close to his son. He enjoyed teaching people what he knew and spending time with his family. He was very patient. He also had many grandchildren from his stepdaughters that he loved very much. He was a kind-hearted person that was always there for everyone and will be missed greatly. Survivors include his son, Dominick Jungers of McCook Lake, S.D.; his brothers and sisters, Pat Plagge and husband, Val of Alton, Iowa, Cathy Fisher and husband, Ken of Winlock, Wash., Bob Jungers and wife, Karen of Aiken, S.C., Rose Buchanan and husband, Pete of Princeton, Ill., Ruth Meendering and husband, Marv of Sheldon, Iowa, Mike Jungers and wife, Teresa of San Tee, Calif., Mary Hatfield and husband, Scott of Preston, Minn., Tim Jungers and wife, Monica of Forrest Lake, Minn., Susan Budden and husband, Doug of Hospers, Nancy Penning and husband, Tom of Owatonna, Minn., Judy DeJong and husband, Tom of Alton, and Steve Jungers and wife, Deb of Eureka, Calif.; stepdaughters, Honey Newman and husband, Jason of Council Bluffs, Iowa, Hollie Butler of Sioux City, and Mandi Lee of Sioux City; and his dog, Sadie which he loved very much. Rick is also survived by 10 stepgrandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and Mary Jungers (former wife) of McCook Lake. He was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, William Jungers.
