Margaret Ann Warner Schwinn Lennon

March 7, 1925 — July 6, 2013

Margaret Ann Warner Schwinn Lennon passed peacefully Saturday July 6 after a brief illness. A celebration of her life will be hosted by her dear friend Pastor Roger Madden at the First United Methodist Church, 1915 Nebraska Street, Sioux City at 11:00AM Saturday, July 13th. Margaret was born on March 7, 1925 to Karl Redfield Warner and Catherine Lucille Shea Warner in Sioux City. She attended Hunt School, North Junior High and graduated mid-term Central High School in 1943. She married Robert Schwinn on June 11, 1949. A life-long Sioux City resident she made her career as a homemaker, mother and volunteer. Margaret was a sustaining member of the Junior League, past president of the PEO Chapter EY and a member of the First Methodist Church where she participated in the Harmony Circle. She volunteered for many years at the St. Luke's Auxillary, the June Nylen Cancer Center and the Relay for Life. Margie was taught by her father to play golf and continued this passion long into her 80s. She played bridge with friends her entire life. She loved to entertain friends, take long walks, and tend her flowers. She never missed the beauty of a sunset, sunrise or a rolling thunderstorm. She is preceded in death by her parents, sister Maureen Bringle, first husband Bob Schwinn (2003), second husband Fred Lennon (2010), who she married in 2009. She is survived by her sons and their wives, Bob and Sharman Schwinn of Littleton CO. and Greg and Lenette Schwinn of Lincoln NE. Grandsons Peter of Breckenridge CO, Graham and wife Ashley of Seattle WA and Jacob of Denver CO. Her surviving siblings include Karl and Betty Warner of Iowa City, Mary Ellen (Mitzi) LaMaster of Wheaton IL and Keith and Patty Warner of Minneapolis MN. Often described in her high school yearbooks as a "swell gal", Margaret Ann graduated into a world at war and wrote many of her classmates and friends as they were sent to distant lands. Always known for her smile, she became an integral part of the rich tapestry of post-war Sioux City life. She will be missed by many as those who went before her are missed as well. Memorials will be directed to the Church Ministries at First United Methodist Church.
