Joshua Todd Huju

February 13, 1987 — June 28, 2013

Joshua Todd Huju, 26, of Sioux City was called into God's arms on Friday, June 28, 2013, in Crooked River, Idaho. Services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at First Covenant Church in Sioux City, with the Rev. Rich Moore officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the church. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be made at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Josh was born on Feb. 13, 1987, in Moorhead, Minn., the son of Todd and Roberta (Humble) Huju. He graduated from Sioux City North High School in 2005 and received his bachelor's degree in biology from Dakota State University in December 2010. While he excelled in any and every classroom, Josh would say that his true education came outside those four walls. In middle and high school, Josh became very involved in music and sports. His hours outside of classes were consumed by practicing his layup and jump shot and perfecting the major and chromatic scales on the saxophone. He played football and basketball and participated in the marching and jazz bands and was recognized for the leadership he exuded so humbly. Aside from all of his schoolwork and activities, Josh found time to enjoy watching movies and reading whatever he could find. He was, and always will be, most alive in nature. At a very young age, Josh began learning the skills of fishing, hunting, and camping. He would spend every summer (and multiple winters) in Northern Minnesota with family enjoying these activities. With this great love came the desire to preserve God's creation for future generations. Josh was a person of great faith. He often expressed that, aside from people he loved, nature was God's greatest gift to him. For this reason, he sought to study and work at saving the natural habitat of God's creation. Josh began working in the fisheries management section of the Iowa Department of Natural Resources in 2012 and loved every moment of it. He then transferred to the Idaho Department of Fish and Game in early 2013. As a man who believed in God, Josh emulated the love of Christ by being one of the most compassionate people you could meet. He expressed his love and care for others in almost everything he did. He was a genuinely giving person and he touched the lives of many people in a positive way. He is survived by his parents, Todd and Roberta Huju of Sioux City; a brother, Jacob and wife, Becca Huju of Houston, Texas; two sisters, Jenna Huju and Jodie Huju, both of Sioux City; maternal grandparents, Melvin and Katie Humble of Deer River, Minn.; paternal grandparents, Matt and Ellen Huju of Marcell, Minn.; 22 aunts and uncles; 106 cousins; and numerous other family members and friends. In lieu of flowers, donations will be gifted in Josh's honor to a conservation organization.
