Lester E. "Bud" Perry, 95 of Sioux City passed away on Monday, June 10, 2013 at the Casa de Paz Retirement Home after a long illness. Services will be at 10:30 A.M. Friday at Sacred Heart Catholic Church. Rev. Craig Collison will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Thursday with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. and a vigil service at 7:00 P.M. Thursday all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Graceland Park Cemetery. Bud was born Oct. 25, 1917 in Sioux City; he was the son of Alva and Lyda (Knepper) Perry. He grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools. He served in the U.S. Army during WW II and served in the South Pacific. He was awarded the Purple Heart, Bronze Star and Expert Rifleman Medal. Bud met his future wife, Marian V. Redden at a dance and they were married Aug. 30, 1947 in Sioux City. Bud worked for National Biscuit Company for 35 years. He built his own home and landscaped the yard. Bud enjoyed fishing, playing cards, traveling and dancing. Survivors include his wife Marian of Sioux City, a son: Patrick Perry and his wife Patty of Lincoln, NE; 9 grandchildren: Amber, Ryan, Shaun, Kim, Erin, Brian, Shannon, Patrick and Eric; 19 great grandchildren. Bud was preceded in death by his parents, a his son Robert.
