Matthew R. "Matt" Ross, 55 of Sioux City, IA died Friday, June 7, 2013 at a local hospital after a courageous battle with A.L.S., Lou Gehrig's disease. Funeral services will be 5:00 p.m. Monday, June 10, 2013 at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel. Visitation with the family present will be 11:00 a.m. until service time Monday at the funeral home. Condolences may be made online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Matt was born August 20, 1957 in Sioux City the son of Leonard and Margaret (Johnson) Ross. He graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in 1976 where he was active in track and baseball. He received his degree in cyber crime from Western Iowa Technical College and worked for Avertach in North Sioux City, SD until August of last year. While in high school Matt worked part time at Solomon's Grocery Store. He then worked with the family business, Mi Hobby, then at PTT, Target, Taco Bell and Sioux City Brick and Tile. On September 25, 2004 he married Sally "Jo" Bochmann in Sioux City. His hobbies included golfing, bowling, fishing, fantasy football, camping and watching NASCAR racing. He especially enjoyed family get-togethers. Survivors include his wife, Jo; 7 children, Shawn Ross of Texas, Grant Ross and his wife, Ashley of Kingsley, IA, Greg Landean of Pomeroy, IA, Kyle Ross of Kingsley, IA, Scott Landean of North Sioux City, SD, Stephany Landean of Sioux City and Zach Larsen of Cedar Rapids, IA; 5 grandchildren, Genevieve Ross, Gavin Ross, Delaney Ross, Ryker Ross and Andrew Landean; his father, Leonard Ross of Sioux City; 3 brothers, Tim Ross and his wife, Pam of Sioux City, Pat Ross and his wife, Vonnie of Jefferson, SD and Kelly Ross and his wife, Kim of Sioux City; 3 sisters, Kaye Wigton and her husband, Tim, Marcy Bunkers and her husband, Bob and Candy Ross all of Sioux City; and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Margaret Ross. Honorary pallbearers will be Adam Ross, Justin Ross, Joseph Barton, Matt McManus, Jeff Wigton, Jyll Ross and Kimberly Carda. A memorial will be established and they may be directed to the family.
