Evelyn R. Koson, 72, of Sioux City, passed away Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at her residence. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Friday, June 7, 2013 at Crescent Park United Methodist Church with Reverend Scott Squires officiating. Visitation will be Thursday, June 6, 2013 from 4 to 7 P.M. with the family present from 5 to 7 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Online condolences can be directed to meyerbroschapels.com. Evelyn was born the daughter of Gustav and Edith (Gerdes) Nagel on October 5, 1940 in Doon, Iowa. She graduated from Doon High School and Western Iowa Tech. Evelyn married Thaddeus "Ted" Koson on February 14, 1970 in Doon. After their marriage, they made their home in Sioux City. Evelyn worked for Northwestern Bell until her retirement in 1983. She enjoyed music and singing in the Senior Center Chorus. She loved attending family reunions where she enjoyed playing flute with other family members. She liked traveling with her sister, Eleanor and loved her cats. Evelyn is survived by her siblings, LeRoy "Ted" (Dona) Nagel, Eleanor "Elly" Gibson, LuEtta (Joe) Stuczyski, Arlene (Willard) Wissink, Virginia (Ron) Chenault, and Ed (Lois) Nagel and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Ted; and one sister, Michele.
