C. Marie D'Abate, 86 of Sioux City, died on Sunday, June 2, 2013 at Sunrise Retirement Community. Abiding by Marie's wishes, cremation has taken place, and a Graveside Service will be at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 7, 2013 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Marie was born on September 8, 1926 in Sioux City to William E. and Florence V. (O'Dell) Findeisen. She received her education in Sioux City, including the Edward's Business School. She married Charles D'Abate on August 13, 1960 in Elk Point, SD. Marie worked at various locations in Sioux City as a bookkeeper and office manager before she retired. She was active in the 3rd Presbyterian Church, as a member, as a deacon, and as a past Sunday school teacher. Marie enjoyed golfing, bowling, gardening and collecting Cardinals. She enjoyed the ladies day at Southridge Golf Course, and was a past member of the WWII Glider Pilots through her husband's military career. Marie is survived by her daughter Vicki Johnson and her husband Bruce of Sioux City; son Larry C. D'Abate of Johnston, Iowa; and two grandchildren. Marie was preceded in death by her parents, husband Charles in November of 2000, sister Astelle, and brother William.
