He graduated from Central High School and Iowa State University with a degree in Civil Engineering. Stan honorably served his country as a B-17 maintenance crew chief in the United States Army Air Corps and later as a combat engineer on Okinawa in WWII. Stan married Arlise Mord on March 4, 1950 in Wausa, Nebraska. Stan worked for, bought, and managed the Haakinson & Beaty Company for 65 years. Stan's company sponsored Little League Baseball teams for many years. Stan was a lifelong member of First Covenant Church. He taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and served as church chairman. Besides his family, one of his greatest joys was helping found and support Twin Lakes Bible Camp near Pomeroy, IA. He also was a member of two national boards for his church denomination, The Evangelical Covenant Church. Stan was a member of the YMCA Board of Directors for 10 years. He also served on the Sioux City Planning and Zoning Commission and was chairman for two years. He was an active member of the Rotary Club for many years. Stan made summer vacations a priority for his family and taught them the pleasures of camping and fishing. In his later years, he enjoyed spending time with his family and grandchildren at the lake and in Arizona. Stan loved watching and following Sioux City high school sports teams. Stan is survived by his children, Tom (Kathie) Anderson of Sioux City; Marilyn (Jack) Feimster of Byron, Illinois; Margene Anderson of Minneapolis, Minnesota; and Douglas (Amy) Anderson of Warrensburg, Missouri; one sister, Carol Anderson of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren, Jamie (Steve) Hoshaw, Sara (Jef) Cook, Mike (Kim) Lambert, Daniel (Heather) Feimster, John (Courtney) Feimster, Jim Feimster, Todd Anderson, Mark Anderson, Sean Anderson and Elizabeth Anderson; and four great-grandchildren, Lexi, Ava, Maddie, and Luke. He was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Arlise. Stan's faith was always an active factor in his decision-making process. He consulted the Lord in prayer on a daily basis in all aspects of his life. In his last days, Stan was not always able to communicate clearly. However, shortly before his death, while praying with his children, Stan was able to clearly say, "And thank you God for the power of prayer." Thanks be to God. We would like to express a heartfelt thanks to the staff of Northern Hills Assisted Living, Synergy, and Countryside Nursing Home for their loving care of dad and mom. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Twin Lakes Christian Center.
