Nell E. Joy

Nell E. Joy, 95, of Sioux City passed away on Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Touchstone Living Center. Per her wishes, her body will be cremated and a graveside memorial service will be held at a later date in the Alta Township Cemetery in Alta, Iowa. Nell was born on August 9, 1917 in Alta, Iowa to Emelius and Thora Nelson. She graduated from Alta High School. She was married to Robert R. Joy on August 22, 1937 in Elk Point, South Dakota. He preceded her in death on September 5, 2012 in Sioux City. Nell worked for Interbake Foods retiring in 1980. She enjoyed camping, wintering in Arizona, and playing cards and bingo. She was past member of 1st Congregational Church, Moose Lodge #752 and the Women of the Moose #431. She is survived by her 2 sons Dennis (Barbara) Joy of Palm Desert, CA; Robert (Marge) Joy of Oak Hill, VA; 4 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, brother Walter Nelson, and sister Martha Myer.
