Catherine M. Tott, 87, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013 at a local care facility. A funeral mass will be 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Reverend David Hemann officiating. Visitation will be Tuesday, April 30, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M. with a Rosary at 5 P.M. and a Vigil service at 7 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery in rural Jackson, Nebraska. Online condolences can be directed to meyerbroschapels.com. Catherine was born the daughter of Dr. Robert F. and Mary M. (Sutton) Magirl on February 7, 1926 in Jackson, Nebraska. She attended St. Catherine's Academy in Jackson. Catherine married Hubert Tott on November 17, 1951 in Jackson. They made their home in Sioux City and moved to Jackson in 1959 until they moved back to Sioux City in 1973. She worked for Northwest Bell for two years and D.K. Baxter for four years before becoming a homemaker and raising her children. While family was always Catherine's priority, she was known to frequent the Bingo Hall and was an avid card player and never turned down a good poker game. Catherine was a member of the Catholic Daughters and was active in the altar society of St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Jackson and St. Michael Catholic Church. She was devout in her relationship with God, dedicating a major portion of her day to prayer and the rosary. Catherine is survived by five sons, Tom (Kris) Tott of Woodbury, Minnesota, Tim (Paula) Tott of Sioux City, Bob (Diane) Tott of Ames, Iowa, Pat (Lisa) Tott of Sioux City, and Mike (Amy) Tott of Keller, Texas; two sisters, Mary Helen Moody of Omaha, Nebraska and Therese Asbra of Sunnyvale, California; two sisters-in-law, Dorothy Magirl of Tucson, Arizona and Lorinda Magirl of Omaha, Nebraska; 18 grandchildren, Lorin, Katie, Jacque, Jeff, Kayla, Chris, Daniel, Janel, Kendra, Kaleigh, Ceara, Mackenzie, Jack, Patrick Jr., Grace, Lily, Zach, and Morgan; and four great-grandchildren, Aidalyn, Camden, Emaire, and Casey. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Hubert; one daughter, Mary; two brothers, Bob and Jack; and two sisters, Peg and Anna Marie.
