Philip W. Hageman, 89 of Sioux City, passed away on Thursday, April 25, 2013 in a Sioux City hospital. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Monday, April 29, 2013 at St. Paul Lutheran Church with Reverend Kenny Hsu officiating. Interment will follow at Graceland Park Cemetery. Visitation will be today, Sunday, April 28th from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with family present at 6:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service will begin this evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com Philip was born on September 11, 1923 in Wahoo, Nebraska to Sam and Carrie (Benson) Hageman. The family lived in Wahoo before moving to Ponca, Nebraska while Philip was a child. Philip helped on the farm, and he received his education in Ponca before serving his country in the United States Army from 1943 until 1945. Philip married Phyllis Junck on March 30, 1946 in Sioux City. The couple made Sioux City their home, where Philip was a truck driver for All American Freight, enjoying the over-the road hauls, as well as local deliveries. Philip retired from the "big rig" in 1980, but continued to drive as a school bus driver for the St. Paul Lutheran School in Sioux City. He was also a wonderful caregiver to his wife Phyllis as her health deteriorated. Following the passing of his wife Phyllis, Philip met Alice Fitchner, and the two were married on November 14, 1993. Philip was a proud member of the VFW Post 1973 in Sioux City, and was a strong supporter of the Teamsters. He enjoyed fishing, camping, dancing, along with cooking, and he would always enjoy adding a hat to a collection of hats he kept as a hobby. Philip was a very loving family man, and held his family as top priority. Philip is survived by his children Richard Hageman and his wife Ellen of Phoenix, AZ, Dennis Hageman and his wife Barbara of Sioux City, Diana Hueschen and her husband Barry of Sioux City, DeEtte Larson and her husband Earl of Kingsley, Denise Heien and her husband Terry of Indianapolis, IN, Debra Blanford and her husband Darwin of Sioux City, and Dawn Swick and her husband John of Dakota City, NE; sister Farris Conrad of Sioux City; 31 grandchildren; 52 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. Philip was preceded in death by his parents, wife Phyllis, wife Alice, brother Leonard Hageman, sister Pearl Hildebrand, and sons-in-law Ron Miller and Ron Schumann.
