Tom attended Akron-Westfield schools until 8th grade and graduated from Bishop Heelan High School in 1991. Tom attended the University of Nebraska for three years and graduated from Briar Cliff with a Bachelor's degree in Biology and Chemistry and a minor in Ornithology. Tom married Christy Hartz, the love of his life, on July 26, 1997 at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Tom and Christy made their home in rural Westfield. Tom started his sales career at Gateway and moved on to medical sales. His favorite job was working for Health Tronics Shock Wave Company. This job allowed him to travel the United States with his family and his co-pilot, Koko, his black Labrador. Tom enjoyed his work and the relationships he made along the way. Tom lived for the outdoors and loved to hunt white tail deer, duck, and goose. His favorite hunt was pheasant so he could treat his Labradors. He made special trips for antelope and wild boar hunting. He enjoyed teaching his daughters how to identify birds and to fish. Tom loved his family and they cherished the short time they had with him. He will be deeply missed. Honorary pallbearers for the service will be Ryan Gill, Nathan Lloyd, Jeff Lahr, Cole Knapp, Matthew Knapp, Pat Burchard, Dan Ryan, Bill White, Sean Keenan, Joe Prince, Rob Nelson, Dan Dean, and John Stanek.
