Norma E. Paltz, 76, of Sloan, IA formerly of South Sioux City, NE passed away Tuesday, April 23rd, 2013 at an Onawa hospital. Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, April 27th, 2013 at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with Pastor Timothy Hall officiating. Visitation will be Friday from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. at the funeral home. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online Condolences may be given at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Norma was born February 11th, 1937 in Sioux City, the daughter of Walter and Isabell (Powell) Renkel. Norma attained her education in the South Sioux City Schools and graduated in 1955. Norma met her partner in marriage in 1953; his name is Kenneth Paltz of Sioux City. They were married September 9th, 1955 in Sioux City, and then moved to California where Kenneth was serving with the U.S. Navy. The family returned to Sioux City in 1957, where Norma set up home for her family. In 1967 Norma and family followed Kenneth back to California where Kenneth returned to Naval Service. Norma worked for the Federal Civil Service, was a member of the U.S. Mobil Construction Battalion #3 Wives club, and then on to vice president and president of the U.S. Navy Wives Club. Norma drove school bus and CCD bus while husband and family were stationed in Adak, Alaska. Norma also was a chaperon for youth groups in Adak and Port Hueneme, CA. Norma also worked for Hirshbach Motor Lines, and then the City of Sloan until retirement. Survivors include her husband Kenneth of Sloan; three children: Thomas and wife Patty Paltz of Salinas, CA, Perry Paltz and very special friend Jan Nierling of Mason City, IA, and Nancy and husband Robin Goudy of Freemont, NE; four grandchildren; seven great grandchildren; and 1 great great grandchild on the way; her brother Robert and wife Judy Renkel of Homer, NE; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.
