LAWTON, Iowa | Gail D. Holmberg, 64, of Lawton passed away Sunday, April 21, 2013, at a Sioux City hospital after a short illness. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. A celebration of life gathering will follow the memorial service at Jim's Lounge, 5400 Stone Ave, Sioux City. Gail was born Feb. 13, 1949 in Lake City, Iowa, the daughter of Edwin Earl and Lucille (Roll) Stange. She attended school in Sioux Rapids, Iowa, where she participated in numerous sports. She graduated from Le Mars Central in 1967. Gail was employed at St. Luke's Regional Medical Center in the print shop for 18 years. Gail's recent position was at Palmer Candy, and she truly loved that job. Gail was an avid golfer and enjoyed Iowa Hawkeye sports, family and socializing with her many friends. Survivors include her lifetime partner, Joe Simoni of Lawton; her mother, Lucille Stange of Ardmore, Okla.; two sisters, Linda (Dan) Thomason of Ardmore, Okla., and Patty (Lance) Sitzmann of Le Mars, Iowa; a brother, Perry (Susi) Stange of Ellenton, Fla.; four stepchildren, Debbie Alfrey of Des Moines, Iowa, Terri Simoni of Norfolk, Neb., Joe Simoni and Jim Simoni, both of Des Moines; numerous nieces and nephews; and many close personal friends. Gail was preceded in death by her father, Edwin Earl Stange; grandparents; and several aunts and uncles. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the First Tee of Siouxland.
