Mary C. Schafer

Mary Catherine "Pat" Schafer, 83, of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, April 10th, 2013. Funeral Mass will be held at 10:30 A.M. Friday, April 19th, 2013 at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church with Father Armand Bertrand officiating. Visitation will be Thursday from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. and a Vigil Service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Pat was born March 15th, 1930 in Minneapolis, MN the daughter of Harold and Mildred (Kirby) Lilly. She married Marvin Schafer on February 28th, 1949 in Sioux City. He preceded her in death on November 17th, 2012. Pat retired after thirty plus years as a nurse's aid for Mercy Medical Center. She was very active in the Red Hats Society, enjoyed playing in women and couples golf league, and attended bible study at Immaculate Conception. Pat was a long time member of St. Michaels Catholic Church. Survivors include her children: Cathy and husband Rich Stokes of Sioux City, Janet Anderson of Sioux City, Virginia "Ginger" Dunn of Humble, TX, Patty and husband Russ McKeever of Sioux City and Jim and wife Kerry Schafer of Atlanta, GA; 15 Grandchildren; 20 Great Grandchildren; Siblings: Jim and wife Eve Lilly, Terese Lilly, Peggy and husband Harold Erichsen, and Verda Migis; sister in law Darlene Limoges; numerous nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews; and close family friend JoAnn Smith. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband Marvin; and a daughter Barbara Jo; sisters: Frances Hughes and Ellen Ensrud and a brother Frank Lilly.
