Kathy Schmitt

Kathy "Kat" Schmitt, 60, of Sioux City, passed away Monday, April 7, 2013 at a local hospital. Abiding by her wishes her body has been cremated and private family services were held. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Kat was born the daughter of Leonard and Carol (Meinen) Schmitt on March 24, 1953 in Quantico, Virginia. She graduated from Briar Cliff with a bachelor's degree in social work and pursued nursing at St. Joseph's School of Nursing. Kat worked for St. Luke's Hospital her whole nursing career and was most recently employed by My Nurse for the last several years. She enjoyed auctions, knitting, and reading. She loved her four dogs. In lieu of flowers donations can be made in her name to the Siouxland Humane Society. Kathy is survived by Denise; her parents, Leonard (Carol) Schmitt; two sisters, Pam Davis and Deb Campbell; one nephew; three nieces; and one great nephew.
