Helen Ann Sewell, 93 of Sioux City, passed away on Sunday, March 31, 2013 at a Sioux City Hospital. Memorial services will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday at St. Michael Catholic Church in Sioux City. Rev. Shane Deman will officiate. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 - 6:00 P.M. Sunday with a vigil service at 5:00 P.M. Sunday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Graveside services will be at Calvary Cemetery. Helen was born July 16, 1919 in Sioux City; she was the daughter of Dr. Patrick and Mary Catherine (Twohig) Keeffe. Helen graduated from Central High School in 1937 and attended the College of Mt. St. Vincent in Younkers, NY. She married Philip Stanley Sewell Nov. 28, 1946 in Sioux City; he died July 3, 1968. Helen was employed by St. Joseph Mercy Hospital in Ann Arbor, MI for five years. Returning to Sioux City, she was employed in sales in 1960 by Salkin & Linoff, Inc of Minneapolis, owners of the S. & L. and Bostwicks stores. She became manager of the S. & L. store in Orange City, IA for five years before transferring to manager of Bostwicks in Mitchell, SD for 10 years. In 1985, she returned to Sioux City and worked part time for the company until her retirement in October of 1993. Helen also dedicated several years of her life to the gift shop at the Sioux City Art Center and she was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. She is survived by 5 grandchildren: Alex Sewell and his wife Jennifer of Minneapolis, MN, Brad Sewell and his wife Nicole of Hinton, IA. Molly Novotny and her husband Nick of Frisco, TX, Eric Sewell and his fiancée Sarah of Tucson, AZ, Adam Sewell of Minneapolis, MN, 9 great grandchildren, a daughter in law: Donna Sewell of McKinney, TX. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Stanley, her son: Philip, her sister: Patricia Duignan and her brother: Dr. Eugene Keeffe
