Arlene O. DeVries, 88, of Columbia, TN, formerly of Sioux City passed away at her home in Columbia on March 20, 2013, where she made had made her home since the passing of her husband Elmer in 1995. A Funeral Mass services will be held on Tuesday, March 26, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Joseph Catholic Church with Father Michael Erpelding officiating. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 25, 2013 with family present from 6-8 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Arlene was born in Winnebago, NE in 1924. She was the only child of William Vernon Little and Mabel Ellen (Oakley) Little. Arlene was raised by her wonderful grandparents William and Rebecca Little of Winnebago, NE. Arlene married Elmer Edward DeVries in 1945. They were married for 50 years. Elmer preceded her in death in 1995. Arlene worked for over 30 years as a Nurse's Aide. She started work at St. Joseph Hospital, which later became Marian Health. Arlene always put her family first. She was a very sweet and kind person. She would go without to help anyone who needed it. She loved her children and grandchildren so very much. Arlene often said they were the reason for living. Arlene is survived by her 3 sons; Elmer (Sandy); Kenny (Enid); and Lonnie DeVries all of Sioux City; daughter Bonnie (James) Holmes of Columbia, TN; many wonderful grandchildren, and great grandchildren; a brother Jim Gray and family of Hinton.
