Sarah Marie Smith

Sarah Marie Smith, 23, of Council Bluffs, Iowa passed away Monday, March 11, 2013 at a Council Bluffs hospital of a sudden illness. Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, March 16, 2013 at First Christian Church with Reverend Andy Anderson officiating. Visitation will be Friday, March 15, 2013 from 5 to 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M. with a prayer service at 7 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Graceland Park Cemetery. Online condolences can be directed to meyerbroschapels.com. Sarah was born March 5, 1990 in Sioux City to Brian and Holly (Ladenthin) Smith. Sarah was baptized at First Christian Church when she was in her early teens. She graduated from West High School in 2008. She was a beautiful young woman who lit up the room. She had a very hardy laugh. She knew no enemies. Sarah was an animal lover and loved being outdoors, fishing, and canoeing. She also threw a mean cast. Sarah loved going to Minnesota to visit her grandparents at their lake house. She liked to ride the paddleboat and ride the inner tube behind the boat. She also loved going to the Iowa State Fair and Adventureland. She also loved to talk on the telephone. Sarah liked listening to music, hanging out with friends, and she could shop long after everyone else was worn out. Sarah left us after a very short life. We will miss her terribly. Sarah is survived by her parents; one brother, Joshua and his wife, Christine; her niece, Harllie; her paternal grandfather Jay Smith and his wife, Linda; paternal grandmother, Virginia Shannon; her aunt, Renee Anson and her husband Mike; cousins, Rachel and her children, Kaylee and John, Steven Anson, and Bradley Anson and his wife, Secily, Jennifer Krieger and her children Eric, Landon, and Emily, and Kristin Babb; her maternal grandfather, Reginald Ladenthin and her uncles Jason Ladenthin and Neal Smith. She was preceded in death by her grandma, Mary Ladenthin; great grandma, Nadine Priestman; great grandpa Fred Priestman; great grandma, Mabel Brady; and great grandpa, Lee Brady.
