SIOUX CITY | Ardella J. Fead, 81, of Sioux City passed away Monday, March 11, 2013, at her home. Services will be 2 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Merrill Muller officiating. Burial will be in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be the hour prior to the service Friday at the funeral home. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Ardella Jewel McMillan was born on Dec. 6, 1931, in Carroll, Neb., the daughter of William R. and Margaret A. (Glandt) McMillan. She grew up in Nebraska and graduated from Ponca (Neb.) High School in 1949. She moved to Sioux City where she met John J. "Jack" Fead. They were married on Sept. 13, 1952, in Omaha. In 1954, she began her career with GTA (Grain Terminal Association) that became Harvest States in 1986. The company later changed hands and became Farmers Co-op, where she continued her employment until her retirement in 1990. Her husband, Jack passed away on Jan. 27, 1990, in Sioux City. She later worked for Joe Knowles of Covington Used Cars in South Sioux City. Ardella was a member of Wesley United Methodist Church and a former member of the Elkettes. In earlier years, she volunteered at the Boys and Girls Home and later years with the elderly. She enjoyed flowers and worked part-time for Terry Lee Flower Shop. Survivors include a brother, Buford "Ray" McMillan of San Antonio, Texas; Dennis Moore and his wife, Pam; nieces; nephews; cousins; and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jack; a sister, Beulah May Poindexter; a sister-in-law, Helen McMillan; and a close friend, Wayne Beach. Pallbearers will be Joe Knowles, Gary Jones, Trevor Knowles, Leonard Larsen, Rob Maynard, Terry Taggart, Roger Vaske and Don Zimmer. Memorials may be made in her name to Hospice of Siouxland or the charity of your choice. "I would like to thank all the wonderful caring people from hospice for the loving care I have received.
