Robert E. Barber, Sr., 86 of Sioux City passed away on Wednesday March 6, 2013 at his residence. Funeral services will be at 10:30 A.M. Monday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, 6200 Morningside Ave. Rev. Martha Anderson will officiate. Visitation will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Sunday with the family present from 6:00 - 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Bob was born Oct. 1, 1926 in Richey, MT; he was the son of Charles and Ada Ethel (Hilton) Barber. He grew up in the Richey, MT area. He entered the U.S. Navy in 1943 and served in WW II. After being honorably discharged he remained in the Naval Reserves and served during the Korean Conflict before being honorably discharged. Bob married Ruby Warnkvist Jan. 31, 1948. She passed away in 2009. He married Barbara Sharp in June 26, 1974 and she passed away in 1997. Bob worked for Swift & Co. for 42 years. He then did maintenance work for Walston Properties and Regency Square in South Sioux City. He had attended Trimble United Methodist Church and was a member of the American Legion and Isaac Walton League. Bob enjoyed fishing, gambling and working. He is survived by his companion: Maxine Kingsley of Sioux City, 3 sons: Robert Barber Jr. and his wife Maxine, Randall Barber and his wife Trish, Jonathon Barber all of Sioux City; 2 step daughters: Jamie Johnson of China Grove, NC, Kim Uhl of Smithland, IA; his brother: Arvid Barber and his wife Geraldine of Roseau, MN; his sister: Mercedes Coyle of Sioux City, 4 grandchildren: Bo, Shandell, Amber and Trey, 4 great grandchildren He was preceded in death by his parents, both wives: Ruby and Barbara, a grandson: Timothy Barber, 3 sisters: Millie Lanz, Rita Marcel Barber and Marcella Marie Barber, 2 brothers: James and Merlin Barber Pallbearers will be Brian and Terry Sharp, Eric Greenleaf, John Mullen, Joel Hubert and Jonathan Barber
