Fayburn G. Turner, 60, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, March 2, 2013 at a local hospital. Funeral services will be 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 7, 2013 at Mount Zion Missionary Baptist Church with Reverend Dr. Floyd E. Brown officiating. Visitation will be Wednesday, March 6, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Logan Park Cemetery. Online condolences can be directed to meyerbroschapels.com. Fayburn was born the son of Andrew Edward and Mary Janet (Finnel) Turner on May 9, 1952 in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Cody High School in Detroit before honorably serving his country in the United States Army from 1969 to 1972. He was stationed in El Paso, Texas. Fayburn married Mary Rose Franklin on November 9, 1970 in El Paso. After their marriage, Fayburn was stationed in Bamberg West Germany where they lived for a year and a half before moving to Detroit. They moved to Sioux City in 1980. Fayburn worked for Chevrolet and Chrysler while living in Detroit. He worked for IBP for 14 years and Missouri Valley Steel for 8 years while in Sioux City. He enjoyed bowling and fishing. He loved to camp with his wife and grandchildren. He liked to create bible covers and pictures using needle point on plastic canvas. Fayburn loved having all of his grandchildren at the house, especially at Christmas. Fayburn is survived by his wife, Mary Rose of Sioux City; three sons, Jerry Turner, Julius Turner, and Calvin Turner all of Sioux City; three brothers, Andrew Turner, William Turner, and Henry Turner all of Detroit, Michigan; five sisters, Francine (James) Davis of West Virginia, Lolita Ridgeway of Fremont, California, Eyvonne (William) Caldwell of Detroit, Michigan, Renee (Thaddeus) Holland of Phoenix, Arizona, and Deseree Manuel of Detroit, Michigan; 20 grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents.
