Donald F. Lang, 89 of Hinton, passed away on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at St. Luke's Regional Health Center in Sioux City. Funeral Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 2, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Hinton with Reverend Steven Stoll officiating. Interment will follow at the Trinity Lutheran Cemetery. Visitation will be today, Friday, March 1st from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel with family present at 6:00 p.m. and a Prayer Service beginning this evening at 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. Donald was born on August 11, 1923 in Rural Le Mars on the family farm to Christian and Ida (Heimgartner) Lang. He received his education in Le Mars before serving his country in the United States Army during World War II. Don married Lois K. Spies on April 14, 1944 at Trinity Lutheran Church in rural Hinton. Don enlisted on September 26, 1944 and served in the Asiatic and Pacific Theater, receiving numerous decorations, including the Bronze Star and the Liberation Victory Medal before receiving his honorable discharge on November 7, 1946. Don returned to farm in Stanton County, a profession he loved, and a career he enjoyed greatly. He was a past member of the Hinton School Board, and a board member of the Hinton Farmer's Coop Elevator. Don was proud of his life-long membership to Hinton's Trinity Lutheran Church, and served on many committees and boards throughout his life for his church. Don was a devoted father, grandfather, and great-grandfather and will be missed greatly by all, including his coffee buddies at Sharon's Café. Donald is survived by his daughter Ragene Kimsey and her husband Larry of Granite Falls, Washington, and their children Melanie Lin and her husband Dennis, Christin Kimsey, LaRae McCurry and her husband Jason; daughter Sandra Junck and her husband David of Arvada, Colorado and their child Lisa Schneider and her husband Troy; son Tim Lang and his wife Deb of Le Mars and their children Mark Lang and his wife Stacey, Melissa McKinney and her husband Kris, Marcy Camarotto and her husband David, and Micah Lang and his wife Makenzie; and daughter Julie Albert and her husband Jim of Hinton and their children Angela Anderson and her husband Brad, Jesse Albert and his wife Heather, Leah Albert; 22 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law Joanne Richards and her husband Don, Peggy Carroll, and Jeanette Spies. Donald was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Lois in 2001, 3 sisters Laura, Alvina, and Lydia, 3 brothers Harold, Edward, and Eldon, and 2 brothers-in-law Delmar Carroll and Dick Spies. Casket Bearers for the service will be Donald's grandchildren.
