Mary O. Murphy, 92, of Sioux City passed away Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:30 A.M. Saturday, March 2, 2013 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Reverend David Hemann officiating. Visitation will be Friday, March 1, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M with a Rosary service at 7 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery. Online condolences can be directed to meyerbroschapels.com. Mary was born the daughter of Leslie and Cecilia (Heymann) Keene on November 4, 1920 in Remsen, Iowa. She graduated from St. Mary's High School in Remsen and went on to attend Nettleton Business College in Sioux Falls. She married Daniel K. Murphy on April 22, 1950 in Remsen, Iowa. Mary was a lifelong Sioux City resident. She worked for Albertson's (later known as Sioux Tools). After raising her children she went back to work at the Woodbury County Recorder's Office and enjoyed volunteering at the Mercy Hospital gift shop. Mary enjoyed bridge, golf, and reading. She liked spending time with her family and grandchildren. In her younger year's she was an active member of the Cathedral of the Epiphany. She was currently a member of St. Michael Catholic Church. Mary is survived by two sons, Peter (Robbie) Murphy of Whitmore Lake, Michigan and Joe (Jennifer) Murphy of Sioux City; two daughters, Mary Liz (Rex) Crockett of Mitchell, South Dakota and Brigid (Dan) Youngblade of Sioux City; 13 grandchildren, Kristi, Adam, Michael, Davey, Sean, Thomas, Sam, Michael, Dan, Katy, Jack, Kelsey, and Meghan; and five great-grandchildren, Payton, Dylan, Connor, Kinsley, and Vivian. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one infant son, Kevin; and one brother, Bob. Memorials can be directed to Holy Spirit Retirement Home.
