SIOUX CITY | Gerald "Jerry" Jacobson, 82 of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at a Sioux City hospital after a brief illness. A celebration of life service will be at 11:00 A.M. Wed. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be at the Cedar Cemetery in Fonda, Ia. Visitation will be from one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Online condolences can be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Jerry was born Sept. 12, 1930 in Fonda, IA; he was the son of Herbert and Vivian (Prange) Jacobson. He grew up in the Fonda area and graduated from Fonda High School in 1948. Jerry then attended NBT (National Business Training) in Sioux City. Jerry married Delores D. Snow May 6, 1950 in Sioux City. He sold insurance for Joe Morton Insurance and then operated his own painting business for many years. Jerry founded the South Dakota Trappers Association. He enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing. He had written many mini editorials to the Sioux City Journal and enjoyed writing poetry. Survivors include: Delores Jacobson of Sioux City; 8 daughters: Judy Schwinck and her husband Ken of Federal Way, WA, Marian Johnson and her husband Alvin of Stratford, IA, Vickie Jacobson of Tenino, WA, Vivian Currie and her husband Kevin of Seattle, WA, Jerri McKeown and her husband Mark of Graham, WA, Jackie Matthey and her husband Mike of Sergeant Bluff, IA, Lisa Beauchene and her husband Matt of Round Rock, TX, Lori McLeod and her husband Dave of Spanaway, WA; 18 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, a sister: Roleen and his dog Skippy
