SIOUX CITY | Vernon Wesley Kahl, 77 of Sioux City passed away on Saturday, Feb. 23, 2013 at a local care facility from complications of MS. Funeral services will be at 1:30 P.M. Wed. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Burial will be in Grace Hill Cemetery in Hawarden, IA. Visitation will be from 4-8 P.M. Tuesday with the family present from 6-8:00 P.M. Tuesday at the funeral home. Vernon was born July 15, 1935 in Madison, SD; he was the son of William and Myrtle (Ervin) Kahl. The family moved to Hawarden, IA when Vernon was a child. He married Marlene Lubbers in 1952 and they moved to Woodbury County. Vernon worked as an Air Technician with the 185th Iowa Air National Guard, as a salesman for Simonson Mills and Terra International Inc. and he held a real estate auctioneer license. He enjoyed membership in the Moville Jaycess and the Sioux City Cosmopolitan Club. He was co-founder of the Woodbury County Mayor's Association and local MS Support Group. Survivors include 4 children: Pam Paolo and her husband Joseph of Coon Rapids, MN, Larry W. Kahl and his wife Rhonda of Montesano, WA, Gwen Robinson and her husband Alan of Sioux City, Daniel W. Kahl and his wife Joan of Manhattan, KS; 7 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren; his sister: Fern Rose of Garden Grove, CA Vernon was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Floyd S. McGloghlon Pallbearers will be Doug May, Riley Colwell, Roger Pinkley, John Owings, Isaac and Hudson Kahl.
