Lois "Arlene" McNamara, 87, of Sioux City passed away on Friday, February 22, 2013 at Holy Spirit Retirement Home. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at St. Michael Catholic Church. Burial will be in the Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be on Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. with family present from 6-8 p.m. and a prayer service at 7:00 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Arlene was born on May 11, 1925 to Ray Bertrand and Effie Pearl (Spence) Denlinger in Washta, Iowa. She graduated from Grand Meadow High School and received her business degree from National Business Institute. She was married to Raymond William McNamara on February 5, 1944 in Kingsley, IA. He preceded her in death in September of 1990 in Sioux City. Arlene was self employed doing housecleaning and painting, she was a parts manager for 15 years with Iseman Mobile Homes, and managed Little King Restaurant for several years. Arlene enjoyed going to the Senior Center and attending their dances and being with family. She was a huge supporter of Briar Cliff Basketball. She went to all their home and away games until her health declined and had to turn to the radio to be apart of their games. She was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and was very dedicated to helping out at the annual Lenten Fish Fry for over 17 years. She was also a volunteer for the NAIA National Women's Basketball Tournament for several years. She is survived by her 2 sons Joseph (Vicki) McNamara; Edwin (LouAnn) McNamara; 5 daughters Sharon Leuenhagen; Rae Marie Pendergast; Mary (Mike) Nearman; MaDonna (Rusty) Giffrow; and Alicia (Dave) Johnson; 24 grandchildren; and 31 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death bt her parents, husband, 3 children Merlin McNamara, Theresa McNamara Grosenheider, and Robert McNamara. Honor Guard will be Briar Cliff Coach Mike Power and Nick Nelson and the Briar Cliff Boy's and Girl's Basketball Teams. Pallbearers will be Rob Borchers, Lisa Elsten, Krista Johnson, Mike Pendergast, Jaden McNamara, Maranda McNamara, Melanie McNamara, and Misty McNamara.
