SIOUX CITY | Richard Macy "Dick" Wright, 90 of Sioux City, IA died Tuesday, February 12, 2013 at Bailey Manor in Manchester, Tennessee. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 16, 2013 at Morningside Assembly of God with Pastors Tony Lee Buchanan and Jesse Skuya officiating. Burial will be in Graceland Park Cemetery with military honors. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Friday with the family present 6-8 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Richard was born June 6, 1922 in Sioux City the son of Elmer and Petra (Brown) Wright. He graduated from East High School. During World War II he served with the U.S. Army in the 130th Infantry, 33rd Division as a sergeant in the South Pacific Theater. Dick studied electronics at a technical college in Toledo, Ohio then returned to Sioux City where he began his career at KCOM Radio. In 1954 he joined KTIV News Channel Four as an electrical engineer until his retirement as studio supervisor in 1987. On August 27, 1950 he married Janice Ludvigson in Wausa, Nebraska. She died May 30, 1989 in Sioux City. He later married Lois Murray on December 10, 1993 in South Sioux City, Nebraska. She died March 27, 2005. Dick loved to dance to the Big Band music and he loved his front porch swing at his So. Helen St. home. He liked to draw, do woodworking and enjoyed being an amateur radio operator. With his inquisitive mind, he loved to tinker with electronics, tearing them down and reconstructing them. Dick was an active member of his church and the Siouxland Senior Center. Survivors include 4 children and their spouses: Rich and Holly Wright of Sioux City, Cheryl and Dan Skuya of Manchester, Tenn., Derald and Audrey Wright of Rose Hill, Kansas and Cindy and Jamie Phillips of Spirit Lake, IA; 14 grandchildren Jeff (Marne′) Wright, Nicole Tracy (Danny Stotler), Brian Wright, Mitchell Wright, Rebekah (Tony Lee) Buchanan, Daniel (Veronica) Skuya, Jesse (Diana) Skuya, Jeremiah Skuya, Johnathan (Kristen) Wright, Stephanie Wright, Shelly Phillips, Laurie Phillips, Joel Phillips and Jacob Phillips; 14 great-grandchildren; and a brother-in-law, Loren Behrens of Columbia, Missouri. He was preceded in death his parents, a sister, Alice Behrens, and an infant brother, Francis. Memorials may be directed in his name to the Big Sioux Chapter of the Alzheimer's Association.
