Dorothy J. Corkhill

Dorothy Zimmerman Corkhill passed away Saturday, February 9, 2013, at Bishop Drumm Retirement Center in Johnston, Iowa, at the age of 87. She was born December 30, 1925. Her parents were Blanche Hazel Ossian and John Harold Zimmerman. She is a graduate of Central High School, attended Grinnell College and graduated from Morningside College in 1949. She married Harold Franklin Corkhill on June 4, 1949. She enjoyed her Bible studies, making photo albums, traveling and family activities. While in Sioux City she was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church and Central Baptist Church. She was a member of P.E.O. Chapter JH. She was preceded in death by her parents and stepmother Ruth Taylor Zimmerman, her brother Reid Ossian Zimmerman and her husband, Harold Corkhill. She is survived by her children Julie (Dan) Ruffolo of Ft. Collins, CO., Shirley Corkhill of Des Moines, IA, and Jim (Amy) Corkhill of Greensboro, NC., eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Visitation will be 6-8:00 p.m.on February 13, with the funeral at 10 a.m. on Thursday February 14, 2013. Both will be held at Nelson Berger Funeral Home at 822 Jennings, Sioux City. Interment will be at Logan Cemetery following the service.
