Helenmarie Pfister, 90 of Newcastle, NE passed away on Thursday Feb. 7, 2013 at the Via Christe Assisted Living Center in Omaha, NE. Services will be at 10:00 A.M. Monday at St. Peter's Catholic Church in Newcastle, NE. Visitation with the family present will be from 4:00 - 8:00 P.M. Sunday at the parish center in Newcastle with a vigil service at 7:00 P.M. Sunday. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery in Newcastle. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel in Sioux City. Online condolences can be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com Helenmarie was born April 4, 1922 in Kimball, SD; she was the daughter of Frank and Nellie (Ross) Heenan. She grew up in Newcastle and attended school in Newcastle. She took normal training and then taught at the Daily Country School rural Newcastle. Helenmarie married Joseph P. Pfister on May 23, 1944 in Newcastle, NE. After many happy years together, he died on Jan. 31, 1982 in Newcastle. Helenmarie worked on and off for many years at Briesch's Store in Newcastle. She was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, the Catholic Daughters of the America, American Legion Auxiliary, Hillcrest Club, Over 60's Club and the Newcastle Community Club. She was also a hospice volunteer for many years. Survivors include 2 daughters: JoEllen Swanson of Omaha, NE; Patti Lou Feurer and her husband Dennis of Olathe, KS; a daughter-in-law: Corliss Hassler and her husband Steve of Emerson, NE; a sister: Florence Salyers of Atkinson, NE; 7 grandchildren: Matthew Pfister, Jason Swanson and Heather, Randy Hassler and Shelly, Julie (Swanson)Vollmuth and Chris, Brian Hassler and Trish, Megan (Hassler) Zoucha and Will, Jacob Feurer; 3 great grandchildren: Grace, Lucy and Sam Vollmuth. Helenmarie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Joseph; her son, Philip; her brother, Chuck Heenan; and her son-in-law, Walt Swanson. Pallbearers are Matthew Pfister, Jason Swanson, Randy Hassler, Brian Hassler, Jacob Feurer, Chris Vollmuth, Will Zoucha and Kip Lund.
