Richard A. "Rich" Crum, 63, of Sioux City passed away Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at a local hospital comforted by family. Memorial services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Morningside Chapel, with the Rev. Gerald Feierfeil officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Schleswig, Iowa. Visitation with the family will be one hour prior to the service Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent online to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Richard was born on Oct. 27, 1949, in Highland Park, Ill., to Vincent and Katherine (Schwartz) Crum. Rich attended schools in Waterloo, Sac City, Jefferson, S.D., Sioux City, and finally graduated from Riverside High School in 1968, where he held track and field records for several years after. He was married to Karen Osterholt, and they had one son, Scott Crum. He was later married to Linda Wilde and they had one child together, Joseph Crum, and two additional sons, Brian and Keith Wilde. He was then married to Sharron Hanson. Rich lived in the Siouxland area all his life. Rich began his professional career and worked at the Zenith plant in a management position until the plant was closed in 1978. He continued his employment working for various companies within the Siouxland area and retired from Tyson Foods after 16 years of service. Rich spent a lot of his time coaching his sons in Little League, youth softball, and soccer. He also ran the lights and sound for the band, Roadhouse. Rich is survived by his son, Scott and his wife, Rexann Crum of Wylie, Texas; son, Joseph and wife, Melissa Crum of Sioux City; stepsons, Brian and wife, Shauna Wilde of Sioux City, and Keith and wife, Mandy Wilde of Dakota City; 11 grandchildren; his brothers and sisters, Karen and Mike Erickson of North Carolina, Bob and Jan Crum of Mapleton, Iowa, Randy and Lori Crum of Denison, Iowa, Kathy Negless of Vail, Iowa, Rick Crum of Des Moines, Karla Olson of Des Moines; and several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Kathryn Crum; one brother, Dale Crum; and both maternal and paternal grandparents. Memorials can be sent to the family in care of Meyer Brothers Funeral Home. Richard's family would like to thank Mercy Medical Center physicians and staff and Siouxland Hospice for their kind and compassionate care.
