Lewis Franklin, Jr., 63, of Sioux City, passed away Sunday, January 27, 2013 at the Sioux Falls VA Medical Center. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 31, 2013 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Visitation will be Wednesday, January 30, 2013 from 4 to 8 P.M. with the family present from 6 to 8 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Graceland Park Cemetery. Online condolences can be directed to meyerbroschapels.com. Lewis was born the son of Lewis and Irene (Bowman) Franklin on December 12, 1949 in Sioux City. He received his education at McKinley, Woodrow Wilson, and Job Corp before serving in the United States Army. He was a Private First Class and served in Vietnam. Lewis worked for Smitty's Muffler for over 10 years and was also a construction contractor for many years. He was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and fishing. He liked to collect coins and brass and was a member of the Gonads. Lewis loved to work on cars and puzzles. Lewis is survived by his daughters, Rebecca Kay (Deno) King of Kansas City, Missouri, Adrienne Marie (Russell) Whitlock of Yankton, South Dakota, Brittney Nichole Franklin of Sioux City, and Clarice Conaway of Sioux City; one brother, Benjamin Franklin, Sr. of Sioux City; three sisters, Rose Mary Wright of Dakota City, Nebraska, Mary Rose (Fayburn) Turner of Sioux City, and Sara Jean Fields of Sioux Falls; six grandchildren, Kaylene D. Campbell-Cole, Brooke R. Campbell-Cole, Samantha E. Franklin, Sara L. Franklin, Deondre P. Neri, and Jordan L. Neri; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
