Virginia L. Wilder, 90 of Sioux City, passed away on Thursday, January 24, 2013 at a local hospital. Funeral Services will be at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 29, 2013 at Crescent Park United Methodist Church with Pastor Scott Squires officiating. Interment will follow at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Monday, January 28, 2013 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with family present at 6:00 p.m. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com Memorials may be offered to the Crescent Park United Methodist Church. Virginia was born on May 24, 1922 in Humbolt, Iowa to Ralph D. and Esther K. (Kinseth) Cook. She resided in Humbolt until 1938, the family then moved to Waterloo, where she graduated from West High School. Virginia married John H. Wilder on January 27, 1946 in Waterloo. The couple moved to Sioux City in June of 1947. Virginia was a proud mother of two girls, Linda and Jacqueline. She was a mother advisor for the Order of Rainbow for girls, including a past Grand Deputy. Virginia was a former member of the ISIS Chapter 173 of the Order of Eastern Star. She was a proud 56 year member of the Crescent Park United Methodist Church, and was extremely active within the church. Virginia volunteered, and served on the Board for the St. Luke's Auxiliary. With all her activities, and all her devotion to her church, Virginia still kept her family as her top priority. Virginia is survived by her daughter Jacqueline "Jackie" Cipperley and her husband Chuck of Sioux City; grandchildren Anne Gaskell, Kyle Cipperley, Jon Sparks, and Amy Revak; and 7 great-grandchildren. Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, husband John, daughter Linda Sparks, and great-grandson Charlie Gaskell.
