Imogene Lou McKee

Imogene Lou (Jammerthal) McKee, 79, of Akron passed away peacefully, with family at her side on Wednesday, Jan. 23, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, Sioux City, Iowa. Memorial services with a Celebration of Life, will be 11 a.m. Saturday, February 2 at Wesley United Methodist Church in Akron, Iowa, with Rev. Tanya Sherrill officiating. Visitation with the family present will be 10:00 - 11:00 a.m. before the services at the Church. Imogene was born December 29, 1933, in Akron, to Harold and Gladys (Lower) Jammerthal. Imogene was a homemaker. After their move from Hawarden to Akron in December of 1962, Imogene worked hard on the farm. Not only raising their seven children, she did babysitting, milked cows, did chores, and planted, raised and canned the spoils from her large gardens. She also helped Clyde with his backhoe business, taking customers calls and notes for him. Imogene later worked outside the home at Custom Coils in Akron and Alcester, and later at Coilcraft, Inc. in Hawarden for several years, where she became "Grandma" to many who worked with her there. On February 28, 1951, she married Clyde McKee in Luverne, MN. To this union seven children were born, Darold, Brian, Pamela, Bridget, Julie, Karen, and Michael. She was a member of the Methodist Church, Hawarden, IA. Imogene loved to play bingo, the dice game "Greed", and her cat, Tootsie. She treasured the time spent with her family and friends. "Mom" enjoyed her social time drinking her diet coke with her family and friends and will be greatly missed by all that knew her. Imogene is survived by her children, Darold McKee, of Akron, Brian (Kim) McKee, of Akron, SD, Pamela (Kerwyn) McInnis, of Hawarden, Bridget (Reed) Graves, of Akron, Julie McKee, of Akron, Karen (Dan) Twedt, of Hawarden, and Michael McKee, of Hawarden; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-granddaughter.; sisters Lorraine Kiewel, of Akron, Elaine (Jack) Strong, of Sioux City, Lola Prothero, of Akron, several nieces and nephews, and her very special companion, Tootsie. Imogene is preceded in death by her husband, Clyde, her parents, Harold & Gladys; sisters, Shirley, Darlene, Lois Ann, a brother, Harold (Bud), and three at infancy (Audrey, Carol and Dean).
