Douglas Lee Wagner, 64, of Sioux City passed away Monday, January 14, 2013 at his home, losing his courageous battle with cancer. Services will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday, January 17, 2013 at Morningside Lutheran Church with Reverend Darrin Vick officiating. Visitation will be held Wednesday, January 16, 2013 from 4-8 P.M. with the family present from 6-8 P.M. and a Prayer Service at 7:00 P.M. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at Memorial Park Cemetery. Online condolences may be made at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Doug was born August 24, 1948 in Sioux City, the son of Harlan and Joyce (Richardson) Wagner. He graduated from Hinton High School in 1967. After graduation, Doug served in the United States Army and following his honorable discharge he helped his father and grandfather on the family farm. Doug was united in marriage to Deborah Stewart, the love of his life, best friend, and soul mate on January 28, 1972. Together they made their home in Sioux City, where Doug worked for various automobile companies and then started Modern Auto. Doug was passionate about the car business and has spent the past twenty years of his life dedicated to serving the Sioux City and surrounding areas. He built lifelong relationships through the integrity of his work and loyalty to his friends and business associates. Doug had a passion for cars, and loved watching Nascar. He took pride in teaching his granddaughter Alex how to drive, even enjoying laps with her at Park Jefferson. He also enjoyed gardening and loved to cook. While growing up on the farm, Doug loved to go bullhead fishing at the pond with Grandpa Ray. Doug was a devoted husband, father and grandfather, and enjoyed traveling with his constant companion, his wife. Doug was a member of Morningside Lutheran Church and devoted to his faith. Survivors include his wife Deborah Wagner of Sioux City; daughter Kelly Jo Wagner of Plano, TX; son Clint (Emily) Wagner of Sioux City; mother Joyce Wagner of Merrill; grandchildren: Alexandria, Cole, Abigail, and Cale; sisters: Sandra (Larry) Klarenbeek of Spearfish, SD, Lori (Larry) Doeschot of Sioux City, Shellee (Jeff) Barto of Moville, IA and Lisa Wagner of Sioux City. He was preceded in death by his father Harlan Wagner, daughter Stacy Wagner, and Grandparents: Ray and Odeline Richardson and Kathryn Wagner. Pallbearers will be Arlen Kuehn, Darrell Eriksen, Harold Janke, Mike McVey, Mark Schumacher, and Darrell Novacek. His practical jokes accompanied by the twinkle in his eye will be dearly missed by all who knew him. Doug was a devoted family man, who loved with all he had, dedicating his life to providing for his family and all of those who were important to him. He was a tremendous son, brother, husband, father, grandfather, and friend who will be missed every day, but never forgotten.
