Willhemena Vaughn, 62 of South Sioux City, passed away on Tuesday, January 15, 2013 at her residence comforted by family. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 18, 2013 at Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church in Sioux City with Reverend Dr. Floyd E. Brown as officiant. Interment will be at a later date. Visitation, with the family present, will begin at 9:00 a.m. Friday morning at the church. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel has assisted the family with arrangements. Online condolences may be offered to the family at www.meyerbroschapels.com Willhemena was born on December 10, 1950 in Tifton, Georgia to Hillard and Christine (Lyles) Bellamy. She received her education in Tifton and Milwaukee, Wisconsin, graduating from Milwaukee North Division High School with the Class of 1968. She continued her education at the University of Wisconsin in Eau Claire and the University of Wisconsin in Milwaukee, where she received her nursing degree. Willhemena married Kennedy Vaughn on February 14, 1970 in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. She loved to write, both inspirational passages, along with poetry. Willhemena was a published author and received an award while in Washington D.C. at the International Writer's Guild for her poetry. She was extremely active in the ministry of Mt. Zion Missionary Baptist Church, teaching vacation bible school, Foundation Studies, and numerous organizations within the church. Willhemena was active in the Youth For Christ Organization in Siouxland, along with recent time working at the South Sioux City Senior Center. Willhemena is survived by her husband Kennedy Vaughn II of South Sioux City; children Soneni Brown and her husband Michael of Dakota City, Nebraska, Kennedy Vaughn III and his wife Allison of Chicago, Illinois, and Rani Monet Vaughn of South Sioux City; sisters Bertha Stanley and her husband John of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Wanda Harris of Denver, Colorado, and her twin-sister Khadija Malik and her husband Rahman of Milwaukee; brothers Gary Bellamy and his wife Vicki, and Hillard Bellamy Jr, all of Milwaukee, Wisconsin; 5 grandchildren Silas Vaughn Brown, Mychyl Monet Brown, Bogan Vaughn Brown, Kailey Faith Vaughn, and Khyah Rey Vaughn; numerous half-siblings; and a host of nieces and nephews. Willhemena was preceded in death by her parents, and sisters Janice Bellamy, Denise Hazwood, and Sharon Bellamy.
