Gloria Jean Desmond

Gloria Jean Desmond known to most as Jean or Jeanie died on December 29th 2012 at her home after a lengthy battle with cancer Funeral services will be held 12:00p.m. Saturday January 5, 2013 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel Visitation will be Friday January 4, 2013 from 4 till 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 till 8 p.m. and prayer service at 7:00 p.m. all at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Jean was born July 13th 1935 in Mitchell, SD the daughter of Charles and Isabel (Wepking) Walburn. She graduated from Central High School in 1954. Jean married James R. Desmond on November 19th 1955 in Sioux City. Together they raised five daughters and were grandparents and great grandparents. Jean enjoyed plants, reading, puzzles, adopting pets and most of all her grandchildren. She did volunteer work and was a homemaker and a loving mother and grandmother. Survivors include five daughters. Julie and her husband Norman Smith of Brandon, SD., Orise Monk of Council Bluffs, IA., Laura and her husband Bruce Schoer of Marcus, IA., Lisa and her husband Brad Miller of Lisbon, IA., and Lynn and her husband Mike Kollbaum of Sgt. Bluff, IA. Twelve grandchildren, Stephanie Dziurawiec, Mariah and Ben Fox, Rosa, Willie, and Joey Monk, Charlie Reich, Sarah Reich-Schoer, and Landon Schoer, Zach and Shelby Leisinger and Faith Miller, and Jordon Kollbaum. Seven Great-grandchildren Natalie, Lilyanna, Colton, Taylor , Jude, Noel and Natalia And her beloved friend "Sis" Lois LeFleur. She was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband. Pallbearers will be Jordan Kollbaum, Ben Fox, Charlie Reich, Norman Smith, Bruce Schoer, Mike Kollbaum and Brad Miller
