SIOUX CITY | Judith Louise Dunn, 68 of Sioux City passed away Wednesday, December 26, 2012 at a Sioux City Hospital. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 29, 2012 at St. Michael Catholic Church with Rev. David Hemann officiating. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. with the family present from 6- 8 p.m. and vigil service at 7 p.m. all at the church. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel is handling arrangements. Judy was born April 2, 1944 in Pratt, KS the daughter of Alexander and Aileen (Simpkin) Jelinek. She grew up in the small town of Pisek, ND to loving parents and graduated from Pisek High School. Judy spent time with her siblings, the family store, working and enjoying family life. At the age of 18 she met her future husband, Leonard Dunn. They were married on August 4, 1963 in Pisek. Together they traveled to the southern part of North Dakota where they started their family. In 1969 the family moved to Iowa where Judy worked at the Floyd Valley Packing Plant for a short time. She then started her own housecleaning business and farmed with Leonard and her then three children. Tragedy hit her in 1976 when she lost at birth, a son, Travis. However, two years later she was blessed with another daughter, Tricia. In 1983 she moved with her family to the family farm where she enjoyed flower gardening and keeping an impeccable lawn that was admired by everyone passing by. Tragedy again struck her in 2009 when her husband Leonard found his way to heaven. Two years after that tragic loss she found a lifelong partner, Jim German, to love and share her life with. In short, she enjoyed her life, dancing, traveling and spending time with her children and grandchildren, along with her passion for artistic interpretation by her sketches and oil paintings. She will be missed by her many friends and family. Judy was a member of St. Michael Catholic Church and volunteered at the Discovery Center. Judy is survived by two sons, Joe and his wife Edie Dunn of Sioux City and grandchildren Tyler, Holly, Tallie and great grand-daughter Aubrey; Brad Dunn of Sioux, City and grandchildren Tara and Chanse; two daughters, Madonna and her husband, Monte Hansen of Hinton, IA and grandchildren Erica, Spencer and Breann; Tricia and her husband Dr. Aaron Case of Portland, OR and an unborn grandchild on the way; 12 brothers and sisters which Judy was the oldest; a special friend, Jim; and many nieces and nephews.
