SIOUX CITY | Helen Marie Anderson, 86, of Sioux City, passed away Saturday, Dec. 15, 2012, at a Sioux City care facility. Services will be 11 a.m. Thursday at Nelson-Berger Northside Chapel, with the Rev. Del Olivier officiating. Burial will be at a later date in Logan Park Cemetery. Visitation will be one hour prior to services Thursday at the funeral home. Condolences may be posted online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Memorials may be offered to Augustana Lutheran Church or to Hospice of Siouxland. Helen was born July 22, 1926, in Papillion, Neb., the daughter of Elmer and Margaret (Bove) Fricke. She graduated from Papillion High School. She received a Bachelor of Science in education in 1947 from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Helen taught in Tecumseh, Neb., and Lincoln, Neb., and at several schools in Sioux City. She was the librarian at Hinton (Iowa) High School. She married Edward Anderson on March 25, 1948, in Papillion. They lived in Lincoln for two years before moving to Sioux City in 1950. Helen was an active member of Augustana Lutheran Church for more than 40 years. She was a member of the American Association of University of Women, Rose Croix Chapter of the Eastern Star Chapter LD PEO and Travellers Book Club. She enjoyed reading, sewing, camping and fishing. Helen enjoyed spending winters in Gulf Shores, Ala., and summers at Lake Okoboji in Iowa. Survivors include her husband, Dr. Edward Anderson of Sioux City; her son, Dr. Alan (Dr. Marsha) Anderson of Denver and their sons, Christopher and Nicholas; her daughter, Betsy Lynn Booth of Richmond, Va., and her daughters Katie and Carolyn Booth; her sister, Evelyn Strawn of North Carolina; and sister-in-law Joy Anderson and her husband John of Sioux City. Helen was preceded in death by her parents; and a brother, Harold Fricke.
