Rodney L. Rowe, 50, of Elk Point, SD passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, December 11, 2012 at a Sioux City Hospital. Services will be at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, December 15, 2012 at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with Rev. Sylvia Kennedy officiating. Burial will be in the Graceland Park Cemetery. There will be a time of prayer and reflection at 4:00 p.m. Friday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel with visitation to follow from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com Rod was born on September 23, 1962 in Sioux City to Richard and Sharon (White) Rowe. He graduated from Heelan High School and attended Briar Cliff University. He was married to Charlene Slade on September 26 1998 in Cherokee, IA. Rod was a Chef. He worked at various restaurants and hotels creating wonderful dishes for the community and dignitaries. He owned and operated his own restaurants in Quimby, Elk Point and Jefferson. One of Rod's prouder moments was when he helped feed the officials and volunteers when Sioux City was effected by the flight 232 plane crash. Cooking was Rods whole life. He would spend his free time doing yard work and gardening so he could have fresh ingredients to cook with. He also enjoyed going to flee markets with his mom and spending time with family. Rod is survived by his wife Charlene Rowe of Elk Point, SD; mother Sharon Rowe Noland and husband Leslie Noland of San Tan Valley, AZ; 2 sons Duaine Jeffery Rowe and Destine T. Rowe of CO; step daughter Laurie Burnett Grace of CO; step son Travis (Lee Ann) Burnett of Sioux City; a grandson Stephen Grace; step grandchildren Courtney Lile, Kiffin Smith, Dallon Beerends, and Cammie Beerends, 2 brothers Russell (significant other Teri Kotz) of Cresbard, SD; Randy (Jana) Rowe of Bronson; sister Susan Langley of Elk Point, SD; nephews Justin Fahme, Adam Langley, Andrew Langley, Anthony Woody, Nikolas Langley, Chayton Rowe, and Dalton Rowe; nieces Samantha and Sabrina Langley; and a great nephew Jaice Lynch. He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents and his father Richard.
