Lowell Patterson Miles

Lowell P. Miles 86 of Sioux City passed away Saturday December 8, 2012 at a Sioux City hospital. Funeral Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday December 15, 2012 at Trimble United Methodist Church with the Rev. Martha Anderson officiating. Visitation will be Friday December 14, 2012 from 4 till 8 p.m. with the family present from 6 till 8 p.m. and a Masonic Service at 7:15 p.m. at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Burial will be at a later date in Memorial Park Cemetery. Lowell P. Miles Jr. was born April 18, 1926 in Crofton, Nebraska the son of Lowell P. and Mabel (Sawyer) Miles Sr. Mr. Miles married Janice E. Stephenson August 30, 1947 in Sioux City, Iowa. Into this marriage five children were born. Mr. Miles was employed as a sheet metal worker with the Sheet Metal Union #37 where he was a member and retired with the Local Union #3. Mr. Miles was a member of Trimble United Methodist Church. Lowell was also a member Triangle Lodge # 643 In his free time Lowell enjoyed HO Model Trains, worked on counted cross stitch projects, and did embroidery work with which he covered all the dining room chairs. He loved his flower garden in which he raised Irises, Roses and Gladiolus. Lowell enjoyed baking, cooking and reading, but his greatest love was being grandpa and great grandpa. Survivors include his wife Janice Miles of Sioux City Four children: Linda and her husband Mike Hanson of Rosemont, MN; Judy Miles Rolfes and her husband Kevin Rolfes of Council Bluffs, Iowa; Lowell "Pat" Miles of Sioux City and Matt Miles and his wife Lynn of Sioux City. One brother Gearold Miles of Elgin, IL. Nine grandchildren and two great grandchildren along with several nieces and nephews. Mr. Miles was preceded in death by his parents, one sister Eileen Stephenson and one son of Jeffrey John Miles. Memorial may be given in his name to Trimble United Methodist Church the American Cancer Society or Hospice of Sioux land.
