Martha A. Rathbun

SIOUX CITY | Martha A. Rathbun, 88, of McCook Lake, S.D., passed away Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012, at a local care facility following a brief illness. Funeral services will be at 7 p.m. Wednesday at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel, with the Rev. Laurice Streyffeler officiating. Graveside services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday at Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family present will be from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Online condolences may be sent to www.meyerbroschapels.com. Martha was born Feb. 4, 1924, in Sioux City, the daughter of Theodore and Louise (Taylor) Crawford. She grew up in Sioux City and attended Sioux City schools. She married Lewis B. Rathbun on Dec. 27, 1941, in Dakota City, Neb. He died June 22, 1982, in Sioux City. Martha was a homemaker and a longtime member of Wesley United Methodist Church. She was active in PTA, Girl Scouts, Craft Clubs, Y-Wives and Needles & Notions. Survivors include two daughters, Bonnie Steinmann of Palmdale, Calif., and Ginny Schubert of McCook Lake, S.D.; three grandchildren, Scott Schubert and his wife Cindy of Sergeant Bluff, Iowa, Darrick Schubert and his wife Sandy of Dakota Dunes, S.D., Stephanie Newhard and her husband Mark of Palmdale; four great-granddaughters whom she dearly loved; a special nephew, Dick Hagaman and his wife Karen of Sioux City; a special niece, Laurie Gott Molina and her husband Jose of Arizona.
