SIOUX CITY | Jeanette Speckmann, 89, of Sioux City passed away Sunday, Nov. 25, 2012, at her residence surrounded by her family following a lengthy illness. Services will be 10:30 a.m. Thursday at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be 5 to 8 p.m. today, with a vigil service at 6 p.m., at Meyer Brothers Colonial Chapel. Condolences may be sent online at www.meyerbroschapels.com. Jeanette was born on Nov. 25, 1923, in Sioux City, the daughter of James and Bernice (Baxter) Smith. Jeanette grew up in Sioux City and attended Blessed Sacrament Grade School and graduated from Central High School in 1942. She married Ray Speckmann on Feb. 10, 1945, in Sioux City. He passed away on Feb. 19, 2004, in Sioux City. She worked for J.C. Penney for many years and later worked for Merry Maids. Jeanette was a member of Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. When she was younger, Jeanette enjoyed showing horses. She and Ray enjoyed boating, camping, dancing and spending time with family and friends. Survivors include three children, Jean Henderson, Randy Speckmann and his wife, Judy, and Ron Speckmann and his wife, Deb, all of Sioux City; 10 grandchildren, Kim Benton, Stephanie Conner, Sarah Salagdo and her husband, Favian, Nicole Zeman and her husband, Eric, Chad Speckmann, Alicia Angerman and her husband, Tim, Zach Winn, Blake, Austin and Colin Speckmann, 10 great-grandchildren, and a sister-in-law, Kay Frantz of Sioux City. Jeanette was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Ray; three sisters, Lois Johnson, Jerrie Hood and Bonnie Makelbust; a grandson, Nathaniel Speckmann; a son-in-law, Bill Henderson; and three great-grandchildren, Emmaline Scott, Raymond Scott and Mitchell Scott.
